Make sure both the gas and electric switches are in the off position and wait a while for water to cool down.
However this is a sign that you have your water heater temperature set too high.
Find the water heater bypass valve usually located inside the rv behind the heater.
You will want to have a nice blue flame that is lighter in the center and not jumping around.
Check your manual to see how to flush the gas and water tubing to possibly clear any debris.
